There are a lot of stains that can damage your carpets and dealing with them the right way can save you a lot of money. A lot of people think that using a strong cleaning detergent is the right way to get rid of all tough stains. This might not only worsen the way the stain looks but can actually damage the fibers of your carpet and cause discoloration that will be very expensive to fix. Cleaning your carpet the right way is so much easier than restoring a damaged carpet.

Tips and tricks
There are a few tips and tricks that you can use to handle different stubborn stains without damaging your carpets. First, you should try to soak up the moisture by patting the stain before you try to remove it. Use a clean white towel or tissue paper to make the stain as dry as possible before you try to clean it. Rinse the stain with clean water and blot again. Scrubbing the stain will make it soak more into the fibers of the carpet becoming more difficult to remove.
Second, make sure that you are following the right way to clean each type of stain. Using too many cleaning detergents can be too harsh for your carpet fibers.

Removing latex paint
This might be a nightmare to your valuable carpets, but don’t panic just yet. Latex paint is water soluble and can be removed with just some plain water and some good non bleach detergent. Add 32 ounces of water to half a cup of detergent and work the stain from the outside towards the center. Always rinse and apply more detergent until it is all clean.

Removing blood stains
Warm and hot water will cook the protein in the blood and will make the stain harder to remove. You have to use cold water mixed with mild dish soap to clean the stain. You can always apply some club soda and then blot and rinse with cold water. Club soda also works to clean juice and wine stains.

Removing urine stains
Accidents happen and whether you are dealing with an enthusiastic pet or a child that just couldn’t hold it any more, you can use a good enzyme cleaner to clean a urine stain after making sure that it is completely dry. You can get a good enzyme cleaner at the pet shop.

Removing fat stains
Mayonnaise and gravy stains are annoying but they are not impossible to remove. Try to remove the grease off the stain as much as you can then use a dry-solvent spot cleaner to remove the fat residue. This solvent will break the fat but will not damage the fibers of your carpet. Make sure to follow the instructions written on the detergent. Repeat until the stain is gone.
